I was tasked with creating a lyric music video for a song of my choosing. I decided to go with the song Castrato Raw (Fullback) by the New York City based punk band YHWH Nailgun. This was due to the fact that I’m really into their music and more importantly I felt like their art direction aligned very well with the things I was creating at the time.
The visuals came to me as if from a dream. I listened to the song and all I could image were BMX fails. So through photoshop experimentation I created two repeating gifs from videos found on youtube as backdrops to my lyrics.
The lyrics we’re animated in after effects, through stretching, keying and outer glow I wanted to get a texture and appearance that felt solely digital.
